Ryan Dixon, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy | Issaquah
Ryan earned his BA from Gonzaga University before competing post-baccalaureate pre-professional health studies at Seattle University. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. Since graduating, he has worked exclusively in the outpatient orthopedic setting, getting his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification and treating individuals across the lifespan, from active kids to adults in their 100s.
Ryan’s treatment philosophy centers on empowering people with the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to reach their physical goals. He combines clear education, thoughtful movement analysis, and progressive, evidence-based loading to help individuals build resilience and long-term independence. Whether someone wants to lift their child without discomfort or return to demanding athletic pursuits, he focuses on creating a collaborative, personalized plan that supports meaningful and sustainable progress.
Ryan’s path to physical therapy was not a conventional one. After earning his degree in fine art and working in commercial and freelance design, he realized the work was not fulfilling in the way he had hoped. Around that time, he began volunteering for the Boys & Girls Club working with 4th and 5th graders in before- and after-school programs. Through this experience, he discovered how meaningful it was to make a real difference in someone else’s life. Having gone through physical therapy himself in high school, he decided to pursue a career that combined science, problem-solving, and human connection leading him back to school for his science prerequisites, work as a PT technician, and ultimately earning his DPT.
Outside the clinic, Ryan spends as much time outdoors as he can; hiking, backpacking, and taking multi-day whitewater trips. He has traveled across five continents and looks forward to exploring more in the future. During the pandemic he discovered powerlifting and no programs his own HIIT workouts. He also continues to nurture his creative side though drawing, painting, and more recently, leatherwork.
