Loren Trottmann, PT, DPT, CSCS
Doctor Of Physical Therapy | Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist | Seattle
Loren came to physical therapy from the weight room. Before earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Oregon State University-Cascades, he spent four years as a strength and conditioning coach, working with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, and built his own performance training business in Bend, Oregon. That background shapes how he treats: rehab is not a separate thing from training, it is the first phase of it.
He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, the gold standard in the field, and he brings that lens to every plan of care. Loren is also comfortable with objective testing. He uses force plate data and handheld dynamometry to take the guesswork out of return to sport, so decisions are driven by numbers instead of how a patient feels on a given day.
Loren's research background runs deep for a clinician early in his career. His doctoral capstone studied how footwear design affects downhill trail running mechanics at the ankle, knee, and hip, and he is presenting that work at the American Physical Therapy Association's Combined Sections Meeting. He has also served as a principal investigator on National Science Foundation funded research.
A former three-year varsity wrestler, Loren knows what it feels like to want your season back. He completed a clinical rotation at HIDEF before joining the team, so he already knows exactly how we work.
