Conditions and Injuries We Treat

Providing Everything You Need

Post Surgical REhab

At HIDEF one of our areas of expertise is rehab following orthopedic surgery. When working with individuals who have undergone a surgical procedure it is important to develop a sound plan or care from day 1 post surgery up until discharge from care and beyond.

Initially after surgery it is important to focus on 3 things. Reducing swelling, gaining back range of motion, and improving muscle activation and strength around the area of surgery.

Even if you have a surgery where you need to be immobilized or non weight bearing there are plenty of things we can get started on. For example, when working with a non weight bearing meniscus repair we can do techniques to reduce swelling, use electrical stimulation to activate muscles of the leg, and perform exercises to strengthen the hips and core so that those areas don’t become weaker with non weight bearing status.

Common surgeries we treat

  • ACL reconstruction

  • Achilles repair

  • Total knee replacement

  • Total hip replacement

  • Meniscus surgery

  • Rotator cuff repair

  • Lower leg fractures

  • Wrist fractures

  • Labrum repair

  • Bunionectomy

  • Other arthroscopies

  • Joint fusion

Motor Vehicle Accidents

How the body responds to a car accident

Oftentimes after a car accident those involved don’t have any pain related to the accident due to the endorphins that are released. This is the rush of intensity that you feel after the impact. Once this has worn off is when you tend to start to feel the aches and pains associated with the accident.

In the initial stages there is a lot of muscle guarding due to the whiplash injury that can occur. We use manual therapy, passive range of motion, and modalities such as ice and heat to help relieve these symptoms. Once we have reduced some of the pain we work on restoring full range of motion and strength in order to reestablish stability of the spine and other affected joints and to improve capacity for normal daily activities.

The severity of the accident is often unrelated to the severity of injury as there are a lot of factors to account for during a motor vehicle accident.

Who pays for your care after an accident

If you have PIP (personal injury protection) coverage on your personal car insurance then your personal insurance will pay for your medical care. Your PIP will cover care regardless of who is at fault.

You can also use your personal medical insurance, which includes normal deductible, copay/coinsurance, and out of pocket costs.

If your PIP or personal medical insurance covers your care, your auto personal insurance will get reimbursed by the at fault party once your case has been closed.
